EVOLVING CLAY PRACTICES

The Indian Ceramics Triennale presents Evolving Clay Practices - A Prelude to ‘Common Ground’ Indian Ceramics Triennale 2024, in partnership with the Dr Bhau Daji Lad Museum and Avid Learning, the special curtain raiser event before the much-anticipated new edition  Common Ground of the Indian Ceramics Triennale which opens on  January 19, 2024, at Arthshila, Okhla in New Delhi. Primary Patron JSW Foundation, Arthshila and Sanskriti are supporters of this edition of the Triennale. 


The evening will commence with CEO, Avid Learning and Curator, Royal Opera House, Asad Lalljee doing the welcome and opening remarks. Managing Trustee and Honorary Director, Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum, Tasneem Zakaria Mehta will guide attendees through the rich history of Bombay School Pottery, providing a historical background of the ceramics made in Bombay in the late 19th Century. Co-Curators of the Indian Ceramics Triennale 2024, Anjani Khanna and Sharbani Das Gupta, will provide a preview and glimpse into what Common Ground, the forthcoming edition holds in store. This will be accompanied by a captivating film showcasing the work of some of the participating artists including Vinita Mungi, Parag Tandel,Dhruvi Acharya, Teja Gavankar, Shraddha Joshi and Ross Andrews, followed by a stimulating conversation between the artists and Editor, Art India Magazine Abhay Sardesai. The event will embrace an international outlook with the participation of celebrated British practitioners including Phoebe Cummings, Clare Twomey, and Tessa Peters from the Ceramics Research Centre at the University of Westminster who will discuss the broadening  of the international ceramics context in conversation with Artist and Co-Curator, Indian Ceramics Triennale2024 Madhvi Subrahmanian.
